Art, Europe and the Power of Ideas. Talk with Christine Lagarde at the Museum Reinhard Ernst

Item #10018
On Wednesday, 21 October 2026 at 6.30 pm, the Reinhard Ernst Museum will welcome Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank.

Christine Lagarde’s day-to-day work is dominated by data and forecasts; as President of the European Central Bank, she plays a part in decisions with global implications. On Wednesday, 21 October 2026, at 6.30 pm at the Reinhard Ernst Museum, however, the focus will be on art. What role does art play in the ECB President’s daily life, and what is her relationship with abstract painting? Christine Lagarde will speak with mre Director Oliver Kornhoff about her first encounters with art in Le Havre during her childhood, and about the artists and periods she particularly values. From there, the conversation will broaden to the institutional and European levels.

The evening offers an opportunity to learn about Christine Lagarde’s perspective on art and its social significance.
